FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JAMIE FRANKS' LATEST ATTACK ON PHIL BRYANT IS JUST A BUNCH OF BULL (Jackson, Miss.)-In the most recent, ridiculous attack ad by Jamie Franks against Phil Bryant, Franks continues trying to blame Phil Bryant for anything and everything. Here's a reality check: Jamie Franks continues to try to blame Phil Bryant for the Beef Plant debacle. That's a bunch of bull. The fact is, Jamie Franks voted to fund the failed Beef Plant three times. Franks voted to give millions of taxpayers' money to the Beef Plant fiasco as stated in yesterday's Clarion-Ledger: "Franks voted three times to fund the beef plant project." Clarion-Ledger, October 21, 2007 The ridiculous new ad also says Phil Bryant lost $25 million on the MCI/Worldcom settlement. As everyone knows, Attorney General Jim Hood managed that settlement on behalf of the state, not the State Auditor. And to make the ridiculous even more absurd, Jamie Franks cites a PEER Committee report claims the State Auditor did not collect $2.53 million owed to the state but once again, Jamie Franks has his facts wrong. Beginning in 2002, those uncollected demands were transferred to the Attorney General's office for civil recovery as the law requires. "All of this makes you wonder if Jamie Franks thinks he's running against Jim Hood," said Mick Bullock, spokesman for Phil Bryant's campaign for Lt. Governor. "A responsible and independent media should expose these desperate, irresponsible and childish campaign attacks by the Jamie Franks campaign." |
