Towards the beginning of this week, Phil has been doing some traveling down on the Coast- mainly in Jackson and Harrison Counties- where he spoke at a Sonic owners convention.

On Wednesday, Phil will return to Jackson where he and his staff will be gearing up for an event on Thursday in Meridian at the home of Ralph Morgan.

Don’t forget to check Phil’s blog regularly to hear about what’s going on with the campaign. The blog will be updated weekly and will include both photos of Phil and his staff on the campaign trail as well as video messages from Phil himself.

PHIL BRYANT URGES HOUSE TO APPROVE ANTI-ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION LEGISLATION NOW PENDING

(Jackson, Miss.)—State Auditor Phil Bryant is urging the Mississippi House to approve legislation that passed the Mississippi Senate (SB 2897) last week. The legislation would revoke state contracts to companies that do business with the state if the company violates state and federal laws including if they knowingly hire an illegal alien worker.

“As I stated when I announced my campaign for Lt. Governor a few weeks ago, illegal immigration is hurting Mississippi and we must take steps to do something about the problem,” Phil Bryant stated. “Illegal immigration negatively impacts our schools, health care providers and our state’s tax revenue. This legislation, SB 2897, is a positive step in the right direction and I hope the House will approve this bill quickly, but clearly, more needs to be done to make sure Mississippi does not tolerate or condone illegal immigration.”

STATEMENT FROM PHIL BRYANT REGARDING CAMPAIGN FINANCE
REPORTS BEING RELEASE TODAY

As campaign finance reports reflecting activity during the calendar year 2006 are being made available today by the Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office, the Phil Bryant campaign for Lt. Governor announced $613,807 raised in the year 2006 with $517,288 cash-on-hand at the end of the year 2006.

Phil Bryant stated, “Having announced my campaign just a week ago, I’m very comfortable with where the campaign is now, the momentum that is building, and I’m confident our campaign will have the necessary resources available to get out our message about the need for the right experience, conservative values and the increased focus of accountability in all areas of state government.”
